The Software Development Cell (SDC) at Faculty of Engineering and Technology is an initiative to harness the technical skills of students through the development of real-time software solutions. 

SDC focuses on designing, building, and maintaining applications that support administrative, academic, and research processes within the institution.

Vision

To empower students by providing hands-on experience in software development and foster innovation that meets institutional and societal needs.

Objectives

  • Provide opportunities for students to work in structured teams with defined roles like programmer, team lead, test lead, etc.
  • Develop customized tools for library management, lab resource tracking, student portals, grading, and attendance systems.
  • Offer internships and hands-on training for real-world project development.
  • Conduct workshops, seminars, and hackathons to improve programming, engineering, and project management skills.
  • Encourage research initiatives in software development.
  • Publish research papers on innovations in educational software systems.
  • Identify technical experts and alumni from the industry for mentorship and collaboration.

Student Involvement

Students engage in all phases of software projects including planning, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. This practical exposure is aimed at preparing them for future industry and research roles.

Key Projects Developed by SDC

  • the sport app: gym recommender app in local areas, and gym management app for owners
  • iApteki: find medical equipment and remedies in closeby areas with their price tags
  • vision: help visually challanged people to identiy objects in front of them
  • car plate recognition system: detect and recognize car plates in given video feed
  • AI examiner: create test questions based on given text feed
  • Tumor Segmentation: take MRI images as input and segment the anomaly area which may be tumor or cancer

Future Directions

  • Expansion of industry partnerships for advanced training and placement support.
  • Development of AI-based tools for academic analytics.
  • Enhancement of mobile-first applications for students and faculty.
  • Increase in open-source contributions and collaborative projects.
